The Palace was built at the beginning of the 19th century by one of the British high commissionaires of the Island as a wedding present to his wife who belonged to a noble Corfiot family " Palatianou " . In this Palace was born Phillip husband of Queen Elisabeth of England in 1921. On the 21st of May 1864 the Mon Repos Palace was offered to Greek Royal family as a summer Palace.

In the year 2000 the Palace was turned into a museum. The museum is located in the Mon Repos estate with very reach vegetation, especially with plants coming from England. After your guided tour in the museum, embark the buses and drive back to the town. During the drive marvel from a distance the old fortress in Garitsa's Gulf.
