Formula One, abbreviated to F1 and also known as Grand Prix racing, is the
highest class of single-seat open-wheel formula auto racing. The sport's
title, Formula One, indicates that it is intended to be the most advanced
and most competitive of the many racing formula.

It consists of a series of races, known as Grands
Prix, held on purpose-built circuits or closed city streets, whose results
determine two annual World Championships, one for drivers and one for
constructors. The cars race at speeds often in excess of 320 km/h (200
mph), equipped, as of 2005, with Normally-aspirated V10 engines that
produce around 950 bhp at just over 19000 rpm. However, the formula has
seen changes and evolutions through the history of the sport. The
powerplants used have ranged from the Supercharged V16 engines to the
Normally-aspirated Straight-4 engines, the levels of displacement have
ranged from 1.5 litre to 4.5 litre, the maximum reached power throughput
has been around 1200 bhp. In 2006 a new Formula is about to be
implemented, consisting of Normally-aspirated V8 engines with a
displacement of 2.4 litres, the expected throughput is in the range of 750
bhp at 20000 rpm, furthermore a special emphasis is put on electronics,
aerodynamics, suspension and Tyres

Europe is Formula One's traditional centre and remains its leading market;
however, Grands Prix have been held all over the world, and with new races
in Bahrain, China, Malaysia and Turkey , its scope is continually
expanding. As the world's most expensive sport, its economic impact is
significant, and its financial and political battles are widely observed.
Its high profile and popularity makes it an obvious merchandising
environment which leads to very high investments from sponsors translating
into extremely high monetary budgets for the Constructor Teams, however,
in recent years several teams have gone bankrupt.
The
sport is regulated by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, with
its headquarters in Place de la Concorde, Paris. Its present President is
Max Mosley, and is generally promoted and controlled by the official
commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone through a variety of corporate
entities.

ISTANBUL
PARK:

Istanbul track is in Tuzla Tepeören area and covers a total area of
2,215,000 m2. The architect of the Formula 1 Istanbul Track, Herman Tilke
has designed the track as 5,338km (3,317 mile) length, 14-21.5 m width and
to be run as counter clockwise. The total number of curves on the track is
14, which consists of 6 right and 8 left, and the maximum speed is 320.58
km/ hour. The highest inclination in length is 8.145 % on the track which
has an uneven surface with ups and downs. The total spectator capacity of
the Istanbul track is 130.000 people.
The large number of
slopes on the track makes the sport distinctive by causing the track to be
tough from the sporting point of view. Another differentiating factor is
that the Istanbul Otodrom Track is a newly constructed Track and thus it
will stage a different excitement compared to the known race tracks.

the World.

The second Istanbul F1 Grand Prix is scheduled to 24-27 August 2007. The
Istanbul Racing Circuit is located on the Asian side of Istanbul, 6 km
from the junction of Kurtkoy on the north side of TEM Motorway, linking
Istanbul to Ankara. The Istanbul Racing Circuit is close to the newly
constructed Sabiha Gokcen Istanbul Airport . In addition to easy access
from TEM Motorway and the airport, the site is located within the green
belt surrounded by forest and cultivated green fields. The area is clean
of any pollution and pleasantly attractive for outdoor activities.
An unusual feature of the venue is that the lap will run anti-clockwise,
making the Turkish Grand Prix Istanbul only the third race on the calendar
to do so (San Marino and Brazil are the other two). It possesses a wide
variety of corners, and while perhaps not as technical as, say, Shanghai,
it should definitely provide the drivers with real challenge, especially
given the reduced downforce available in 2007.
